The SUM function allows you to add a range of values together.
The SUM function button looks like this
and is positioned on the toolbar at the top of your spreadsheet.
Look at the picture below.
To calculate the total of the values in column D, for example,
- select cell D7
- click the SUM function button
The screen will change to look like the one below.
You will see that the totals have been surrounded by a flashing dotted line. The formula =SUM(D5:D6) will appear along the top of the spreadsheet and in cell D7.
Press Return and the calculated total will show in cell D7.
